sports and games

We all love games and we all have played games. Each one loves a different game. Some like Table tennis, others like badminton while still others like F1. But our media, TV, news papers, magazines and internet only like Cricket. They might have excuses like the country loves cricket, advertisers love cricket.

I personally love Golf and have been searching for a site that gives me regular updates from the international golf tournaments. "Sports keeda" does just that. People who write for Sports keeda are called keedas. And there are lots of them around. I will soon become a golf keeda. They have large sections for football, athletics, basketball and almost every sport played on earth. I was surprised to see quiz on the site. Is it a game. Do people win Olympic golds for it?

My own career

I have been really fortunate to have been into reading since I was in 9th grade and has a long list of successful people in my family. Plus I lived in Mumbai, and had friends and their parents who gave be invaluable advice on my career path. This has made a huge difference in my life.

When I stumbled upon "Mera Career Guide" and found the same advice that I had got when I was on a cross road after my 12th Standard and again after my BSc. Plus it comes from so many people who are far more experienced, come from very different industries and interests.

I strongly recommend this site for any person who is looking for advice on his career. It can be about taking up a job, following you heart, negotiating a promotion or salary with your existing company or even selecting a city to settle down.

Keep up the good work, Mera Career Guide.

The silicon valley ecosystem, now in India

What's the silicon valley?

Its a collection of successful startups, lots of new startups, companies servicing these startups, employees who keep joining these startups, and last but not the least, startups that close down, only to bounce back even stronger.

Failure there is not a social taboo. It still is a bog black spot in India. If your company shuts down, you get rejected by Indian society. You will not have friends, you cannot get married, you cannot get employed and most probably your parents and brothers and sisters will not talk to you.

This has to change in India. We need to bring in this change. Change the whole society. Educate them about the benefits of Entrepreneurship, startup and the fact that its the fastest way to create value.

Show me one person, who has learned to walk without falling. So if an entrepreneur fails in his first attempt, why such a ruckus. We should actually encourage him, to get up and try again.

And then the silicon valley ecosystem will be in India. And that will happen sooner than later.

The Positive Side

We all know how many people died of Swine Flu in Pune. But do we know that there were close to 5000 people in Pune who tested positive of Swine Flu and were completely cured. So if, 100 people died, that's around 2%. Indian Media has got into the habit of only looking on the negetive side. Or is it something else?

Actually, We Indian's are always on the negetive side. I love to point out "Chance mila, to cribb chalu"

And its not only about our people. Even large Indian companies do that. The other day, I saw an article saying that the traffic on Bandra Worli Link road is lower than expected and how the revenue is falling short on expectations. A couple of days later, I was on the same road, that was bubbling with activity. But now there are no reports to say that "Revenue is more than the expectations"

Hopefully, some day, India will have a news paper or a TV channel that only takes positive news.

Online Marketing

There is a lot of work needed in telling people about the potential about online marketing. It has application in politics, entertainment and almost everything under the sun.

I am keen to learn all the tricks of this trade like SCO, Analytics, Blog, meta tags, Advertising, etc. and will do it sooner than later.

Reliance Mobile on a wrong foot

Reliance Communication has seen a drop in Average Revenue per User (ARU). Because of that they have dropped their network quality. This will cause a further drop in the ARU. They should do something about it.
